Service Description:Tops Day Nurseries opened at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in March 2000. The building, in Castle Lane East, was purpose-built for children and is currently registered for 124 children.
The lower floor of the nursery has a baby unit, for children aged 3 months to 1 year; 1 unit for 1 and 2 year olds; and a room for 2 to 3 year olds. The upper floor has a room for 1-2 year olds and 2 pre-school units for children aged 3 - 5 years.
Children at the nursery have access to a large enclosed garden, laid mostly to safety matting, and bark surfacing. The garden has equipment for all of the differing ages, including climbing and sliding equipment, swings for all ages, growing area, sand, and much more.
The nursery is also adjacent to a large lake, and the children and babies take regular walks to feed their feathered friends who live nearby.
The nursery also operates a baby-sitting service, during the nursery's closing times.
The nursery is open from 6.00am until 8.00pm (subject to local demand), and can accommodate parents who require the same hours each week, as well as parents who need to alter their hours each week due to shift patterns. The nursery requires a minimum of 6 hours per week to be booked, and bookings can be up to the nearest 15 minutes, e.g. 8am to 3:15pm.
